Net Worth Week 90 – End of the Year Edition

Gentle Readers,
I completed the first things my new client needs while also working enough overtime to get the first-level bonus. I’m a reasonable woman and did not attempt the second-level bonus because I need to sleep and feel human every day. I also gave my business another small loan. Please let it be the last.
The interview for the other government gig went really well, and I absolutely want the woman who interviewed me to be my supervisor. This will take some time because the clearance I have is not accepted by her agency.  She estimated it would take 6-8 weeks for them to process it. I emailed the forms on Thursday, so mid-February at the earliest.
In the meantime, it appears the high OT gig I’m on will continue. I confirmed with my brother who says that the plane tickets were $600. After a few weeks in this gig to replenish my accounts, I’ll get that money to him.
I received my “last” sets of trays for Invisalign. My regular dentist was on vacation, so I won’t know if she thinks I need a “correction” after these are done. I do know that I will need to shell out nearly $1000 for a new retainer/nightguard once this process is complete. My mouth and jaw have changed a ton, and I need to keep all the work in place. It has not stopped being strange to see my changed smile. I do look forward to being able to snack or eat without immediately flossing and brushing. My vanity and debt have stopped me from taking new passport photos. I’m hoping that I don’t need a correction and can take the photos/apply for a passport in the next 2 months. I need to fly overseas to meet my new family member.
Still no life insurance paperwork, if it does not arrive by the time I’m done dog-sitting, I’ll have to make some phone calls.
Christmas Eve with my favorite family definitely warmed my heart. Christmas dinner ended up just being my friend and her girlfriend because her niece was sick. Still delightful. Watching their love and comfort together deepen is heart-warming.

Are you doing anything to celebrate the New Year?

  • I’m spending New Years having a fancy dinner and playing board games with two friends who are also girlfriends. Should be fun! I’ve told them I’m not committing to staying til midnight, as I am an old woman who needs her sleep before going back to work on the 2nd.

Out of curiosity, what are the business loans for?

    • That sounds lovely. I’m going to swing by a party my friends are hosting. I plan to get back to the dog before too many folks are drunk.

I loan my business money when it needs help covering overhead.

  • You’ve got so much going on. It’s good that you made some time to relax and enjoy the season.

I hope things work out with the Invisalign. I had the old fashioned braces back in the day. Even the memories of them hurt. I read that Invisalign stock did very well this year. Everyone is all smiles these days, I suppose.

Have a happy New Years and get some rest before the onslaught of work once the papers go through. Oh, and have fun during your trip overseas. Mine is coming up in a couple of months and I am sooo looking forward to it.

    • The current gig has more intense hours than the govt gig will. Thankfully.

I can’t wait to start planning the trip. Something more tangible to look forward to is good for the spirit.

  • Mr. Groovy

Hey, ZJ. Got my fingers crossed on the government gig. I hope it goes through. And good luck with Invisalign and the passport photo. You know, worst case scenario, you don’t have to smile for your passport photo (haha!). Hope you have a kick-ass 2018, dear blogger. Cheers.

    • Thanks, Mr. Groovy. Even with your mouth shut, invisalign puffs out your lips since it takes too much room. But soon. Yes. Thanks for stopping by.
